Family Pictures

We get family pictures done every year. I would love to be one of those mom’s who does the pictures like every six months, etc…but we just can’t afford it. I have a friend who told us about Portrait Innovations a few years ago and we willingly make a trek to one each year as the pictures turn out awesome and they are very reasonably priced. Recently one opened up where my parents live, however, we could not get schedules to coincide with going there so we had to travel to another one! They take a ton of pictures and Mark and I were really brave in letting the photographer know what we wanted this year. Without further ado…the pictures.

I just pulled these from our cd, so I didn’t get a chance to crop any…sorry!

This year, we picked out pictures to keep that really went with each child’s personality. However, there was some other really good ones I wanted to share. I’ll point out the ones we actually bought, though as wall pictures (since they’ll go up on the wall for a year!).

Zoe’s picture to go on the wall!

I’ve always wanted a picture of her twirling since that’s what she loves doing!

Contemplative…we didn’t choose this one because she was playing with her wiggly front tooth…I still like it though.

Ace’s flirtatious wall picture!

We just had to get this one. I think I’m going to put it up in the boys’ room.

Does this say All-American or what???

My football lover!

Liam’s wall picture…gotta have that mischievous grin.

The, “What did I do now???” look

Full force loveable boy (and our wall picture)

Yeah, he was a challenge to sit still…but he liked this rocking chair so we threw it in.

Aren’t they beautiful!?! I love my kids and all the great photographers at Portrait Innovations.

Stay tuned for the football story and maternity pictures!

All I Want for Christmas

is my two front teeth!

Zoe lost her other upper front tooth tonight. I noticed, much to my disgust, that it was hanging a little off to the side.

After supper tonight, Mark started to pull it and I heard the screams and intervened.

So, when I laid down after baking, Mark got the boys’ and Zoe ready for bed and apparently he pulled it then. It must have not been too bad because she didn’t wake me up (of course, I don’t think a freight train could’ve gotten me awake!).

I’ll try and get a picture soon, but honestly, I think we’ll have one at some point since Christmas is so close!

Happy Birthday Zoe!

Zoe celebrated her sixth birthday on Saturday with an Art Party. It was her choice and (when things slow down) soon I’ll post her invitations that she designed/created. She seemed to have a good time.

The girls (she didn’t want to invite any boys) made ornaments, however, they were glass ornaments and involved paint, so we didn’t get any of that on camera…too much for the adults to take pictures and help at the same time. They also did a scratch art activity to make window sun catchers. A big thanks to Tracy, Hillary, and Ge for helping and having fun creating your crafts and helping the girls!

They also created their own cupcake masterpieces (with different color icing and sprinkles) and their own tacos!

Scratch Art…using a wooden stylus you scratch off around a stencil and the paper is a colored see through thingy…very cool and pretty!

Gift time! She “racked up” and enjoyed opening presents with friends!

Hmmm???

Getting ready to decorate ornaments. Glass ornament balls squirted with paint and then swished around.

The Girls’ Room

The girls’ room is painted and the crib is in. I still want to get bedding, new curtains, a lamp, and Ceili Rain’s changing pad and we’ll be set in the girls’ room. Zoe and I really had a good time painting the canvasses. They turned out better than I had expected. I kept my hands off of hers to “fix” it and they look great!

My canvasses…first time I’ve ever really painted and add to that that it was on canvas! I’m glad my grandmother can’t see it…she’d probably be embarrassed, painter that she was!

Zoe’s canvasses! Didn’t she do great! I pretty much let her do whatever she wanted.

Zoe’s side of the room…notice Raggedy Andy sprawled out…Raggedy Anne is on the other side…looks like they’ve kicked the bucket to me. The dresser is what I did for her room before. Mark and Zoe agreed that I didn’t need to change it for now…fine by me but I would have loved to repaint it and put flowers on it to match the room.

Ceili Rain’s crib (that was Josiah’s, that was Liam’s, that was Ace’s, that was Zoe’s, that Mark made…”and this is the house that Jack built…”). I don’t have any girly bedding or bumper pad, but hoping to pick that up soon.

Kid Cuteness Time…Family Worship

*During family worship[ a couple of nights ago as we were singing, I kept hearing Liam saying something like, “You be quiet, quite singing…shhh. Stop it.” He was sitting beside me on the floor looking straight out and pointing his finger saying this. When we finished singing, we asked him what he was doing.

“Mommy, your foot was singing and it needed to be quiet!” He was fine once I explained that I was tapping to the music.

*For Ace’s birthday, he received a Narnia sword that makes noise when you swish it, etc. As you can imagine, Liam absolutely loves it as well as Ace. There’s been some coveting issues, of course. Liam’s asked several times for a Prince Caspian sword like Ace’s (he has King Peter’s sword). I told him maybe for his birthday. We had already purchased Liam’s presents when I realized that we hadn’t gotten him the sword he’s asked for. Ge to the rescue!! It’s been hunted down and purchased and waiting gift wrap and Liam’s birthday party. With no mention made to Liam, every once and a while during prayer time, he will pray for his sword in detail. “Tank you God for my Narnia sword for my birthday that has buttons and makes noise when you swish it…”

*Tonight Zoe’s prayer time included this, “Thank you for Christmas, God. Help us to remember it’s not about the toys but it’s about you.” From the mouth of babes!

Next Up…

Zoe’s turn. She’s been complaining all morning she was cold. While we were working on canvasses (small ones…hello all, I don’t paint!) to go in her room, she was breathing funny and kept taking deep breaths, a sure sign her temp was rising…and it was. I sent her to bed to lie down and told her the paintings could wait. Up until I realized she had a temp, she kept painting away insisting she was alright. Poor girl…she’s just like me!

Two Weeks Ago

Two weeks ago today, we found out that our fifth (actually sixth) blessing would be a girl! Yippee, Ceili Rain is on her way. Now we are busily preparing “the girls” room for a new little girl…more on that next week.

Also, two weeks ago, I was busy at a ladies’ night at church, when Zoe accepted Christ! Calling home to tell Mark I was on my way, he exclaimed, “Your daughter’s heading to heaven.”

My first thoughts were not good ones and I didn’t associate his statement with her eternal state but just her present physical state. After catching my breath and stepping back on the gas, and Mark apologizing profusely, I realized what he meant.

He told me that after family worship that night, she told him that she needed to ask Jesus in her heart. That took him by surprise, but he quickly put the boys to bed and sat down with her to talk about all the reasons she felt she needed to do this now. According to Mark, she was pretty firm on the sin in her heart and her great need for Jesus to fill up her life and for God to forgive her of her sins.

We are still feeling so blessed by God that He called her out at such a young age to follow Him. Definitely nothing, we’ve done. We’ve shared Christ with her when she’s asked about salvation, eternal life, and the most important to a little girl…how she can be a princess like mommy (we are adopted by Jesus, the King of Kings…see…princess).

I talked with her in the morning and she was pretty set that she had accepted Christ. She shared with me what that meant and was so excited.

So, we’re giving God all the glory for our sweet girl’s eternal decision to follow Christ. I’ve waited for two weeks to share, because I thought Mark might want to share, but then I finally asked him and he said I could share.

She has a new Bible and a real Bible cover which she thinks is cool. We are seeing little fruits coming up as she is learning more about self-control and already growing in Christ. She is being discipled by us through a neat study called, I’m a Christian Now. Our church requires children to complete this study before being baptized, which we are glad that she isn’t just “dunked” and moves on. She is learning what a life changing decision she has made and how important it is to follow through with God’s commands, including baptism.

I can’t wait to see what God has in store for her as He reveals His glory and presence in her life!

Zoe…

…finished her book last night when she went to lay down for the night. Help!!! I need good book suggestions. Not the little easy reader books with the numbers on the side. I need some good book suggestions. They need to be chapter books and on a 1st to 3rd grade level. Leave a comment with ideas and we’ll hit the library real soon. Thanks!

Today…

I know I post a lot about our mishaps and misadventures. It’s what’s interesting, I’m sure! Anyway, today, I’d thought I’d be boring and share what a good day we’ve had. Liam has been very obedient and even loving. Ace is working on a new bad habit of talking very ugly to his brother and sister but we’re working on it. He even had a good attitude during chores. Actually, all three of the “chore” kids did laundry without complaining. Ahhh! Peace.

Also, I have a children’s chapter book called, What Would Jesus Do? It’s based on the novel called In His Steps. My mom got it for me several years ago. I’ve read the first three chapters of it out loud. Zoe took it with her to naptime (also known as rest time to her) and has almost finished it. She loves it! I’m not talking a short book either. This is a long one. It’s over 200 pages. The words are about medium type. Pretty impressive! So, grandparents out there…gift idea. Real chapter books that Zoe would love. The Boxcar Children would be right up her ally. I’m just waiting for her to grab our Little House books and finish those up on her own.

Zoe’s Poem

Here’s my sweet girl’s poem and the picture that you can see through on the page. She didn’t tell me what the picture was below the poem. And, all the spelling, punctuation, and writing was her own. I didn’t tell her how to spell anything. By the way, I think the reason for all the apostrophes is because we started learning about them and how they show possession, so she got a little carried away with them.

sweet sweet rose’s
so sweet kiss’s kiss’s
so sweet strawberry’s
strawberry’s so sweet
prety prety princess so prety
heart’s hearts so good yes.

That’s me holding Josiah by the neck. Zoe with her head on her shoulders. Mark’s got a camera and I’m saying, “Say cheese.” I love how Josiah and I are the only ones without big ears.
