Soccer Camp for Ace

Ace enjoyed soccer camp last week…much more than his sister (it was too much running). He got the hang of the techniques they taught and seemed to really enjoy himself. I like these two hour camps for five days. The kids get to try out different things and it gives us a good view of whether or not it is their “bent.” While Ace enjoyed the camp, he told me he didn’t really want to play it this year.

After spending 30 minutes clutching me on Monday, he warmed up to the coaches and also made friends. A little too friendly for me…this little girl followed him around and kept trying to hold his hand…but he just took in stride, one of the benefits of having a sister I guess.

Friday, the other kids got to enjoy it too!

Zoe playing heads/hands (whatever she called out they had to do the opposite).

What Ceili Rain enjoyed most out of the whole week…sleep when she could get it.

Cloth Times Two!

Since I still have two babies in diapers, I thought I’d get them together for a little photo session. One pink, one blue…too cute if you ask me!

And they love each other too! Josiah was thrilled to have some one on one cuddle time with little sis! She tolerates him pretty well.

To read a little more about cloth diapering you can look at my post here. Still a big big fan of BumGenius!

It’s ‘Bout Time

I figure it was getting pretty baby-less around here…so, without further ado…more pictures of Ceili Rain!

This has to be the act of a cruel mom somewhere…the oldest four went outside last week to play in the sprinkler. Our backyard has very little shade and is fully of ‘squitors so I opted to allow Ceili Rain in. I propped her in the Bumbo and sat her by the door to watch.
She enjoyed the show…better and more engaging than tv, I guess!

Ta Da! Ceili Rain can now sit in her exersaucer. By the end of the week, she was figuring out how to turn in it!

No, she’s not teething…she’s just got a lot of saliva! At one point, while trying to figure out how to put the bird in her mouth, she had a bubble drool that would rival Mark’s goatee!

She had lots of help as evidenced by the little hands in all the pictures!

Ceili Rain’s Four Months!

I know I recently posted this picture but I just think she’s adorable all cuddly like that!

Here’s the stats:
13 lb 12 oz (75%)
25 3/4 inches long (90%)
16 3/4 inches in the head (65%)

She’s jumped from 35th to 65th for head so she’s getting a big head being the baby girl. Nothing new to report medically…she’s tracking on the growth chart and just growing and developing like a baby.

Since she decided to roll from her back to her belly on Tuesday, she decided to roll from her belly to her back on Wednesday. While she’s not proficient at rolling, she’s getting there. I think by Thursday she realized what she had done and the benefits it provided as far as being off her belly…that was a plus for her.

She continues to be a most excellent baby. We’ve moved her from the closet (it’s quiet and secluded) to “the girls” room for night time. She’s loved the transition so far. She loves to coo, splurt and laugh at her brothers and sister…and us. But when she’s tired, she just wants to be left alone and sleep. She has now moved from wanting to sleep on her back to her side or belly (which is fine now that she can push herself over). Her favorite past time is chewing on two to three fingers. Not in the front like she’s teething (because she’s not teething…just because she’s four months does not mean she’s getting teeth) but on the sides.

She’s settling into a routine now which is great. I was beginning to panic that we were still going to be trying to figure out nap times when school rolls around, but I think we’re pretty much set…as long as mommy can stay at home (which starts next week) and not continue to run around the world with all the kids.

Since I was asked (in front of the kids) if I was a saint or insane today, I thought I’d just share…I’m neither…just very blessed!

Let’s Roll!

I’m still here…trying to recover from this past weekend and search through and upload all our pics…so many you’re eyes will bleed. However, I had to take a break from that to post an update on Miss Ceili Rain.

Let’s face it, my kids just do not do good the first few months of life as far as napping is concerned. It’s no big secret around here. Between four to six months, we get on a good routine and they start napping a bit more. Ceili Rain has been no exception. So, today, when I put her down in the middle of nap time after she had nursed, I didn’t expect her to go to sleep.

But she did! She slept for over two hours. I kept going to the back of the house to check on her. No noise, not even a peep. I finally went into the room to check on her and she was asleep. On her tummy. She had rolled herself over!

Lest, you think I put her on her belly, while we were eating supper, she rolled over again. Then looked at me accusingly. She is the first to roll from her back to her belly first. Most of ours figure out how to roll from their belly to their back. Ceili Rain decided she had to be different. I think she could get the belly to back thing if her head were a little bigger.

A little bit about Ca Ra

I know she’s not quite 4 months yet, but I just had to share her cuteness…off we go, shall we?

Sleeping so peacefully at the splash area near our library!

Her serious look!

Again, teaching Megan and Ceili Rain how to be best friends. They saw each other and just grinned…already starting!
Okay, so this isn’t Ceili Rain, her best bud making the funniest face in her mama’s lap!

Sometimes Life is Boring…

and a lot of times it’s not. I’ve been trying to think of what to blog on here, as life as just been crazy and so weird normal. Monday, that all changed.

Let’s start at the beginning shall we?? I have been involved with a small group study of a book called Creative Counterpart by Linda Dillow. The book’s been around for over 30 years, but it’s probably one of the best books I’ve read about being a wife. Our wonderful leader gave us an assignment to be done before our last meeting. We needed to plan a romantic date for our spouse. No problem, if my nursing/hormonal/post pregnancy brain still wasn’t in full effect. So, I spent two weeks trying to figure out what to do when I didn’t want to do anything “romantic (thanks to nursing).” I finally figured out what I wanted to do…ice skating…but because of our crazy schedule, I didn’t get it finalized to do until Monday.

So here’s how I wanted to do it:
Get Mark to come home early and meet me at a designated place to go to the ice rink…from 4 to 6. Eat really bad ice rink supper and then head to the house to feed Ceili Rain. Leave out and head to a coffee shop to sit, talk, and visit. Back home early to put kids in bed and, well, you know.

I texted Mark that morning, “Roses are red, Violets are blue, I’ve got a special surprise for you.” Don’t you love my poetry! So original…I digress. Anyways, when he got it around lunch time (fortunately he checked his phone then)…he pondered what was going on. I didn’t tell him anything. It was later on the date that he told me he thought I was either pregnant or we had gotten a referral for a child. He hadn’t even suspected a date. Shows how much I needed to do this and how much this book has helped us.

So, my friend, Tracy, came over to watch the kids. I was nursing Ceili Rain when she came (so far my plan was going good…and on schedule). I finished feeding Ceili Rain and was propping her up on my lap while Tracy and I finished our conversation on marriage when Ceili Rain grunted. And then exploded. Out of the diaper. And on to my jeans. Now, because my baby belly is being stubborn, I can only wear one pair of jeans comfortably. And that was them. And now they were completely covered in baby poop. I mean completely. I started to cry knowing the date was going to be different than planned. Then I just had to start laughing. I handed Ceili Rain off to Tracy who held her out and carried her to the changing table. I went to my room and changed, washed off, and called Mark.

We made it out but not ice skating. We went to the movies and enjoyed over buttered popcorn and a large drink. After we got the kids in bed, we ordered Steak Out and just visited. A great night (not sure how romantic though)…even if I got pooped on.
