What We’ve Been Up To…

I feel horrible that I’m not updating the blog everyday…but it has been a little hectic around here.  I believe when I did my school post, I failed to mention that Zoe was taking Speech and Apologetics through the local debate club.  So, that, piano, Awana starting up and other various extra activities, including actually teaching my kids has been occupying my time.  Oh, and that handsome littlest man who is too adorable…Mr. Bry.

Speaking of which…here’s some pictures we took of him when his Papa & Grandmere came to visit.

I caught a smile!
And the end of a smile…
And getting some Grandmere love!
My “little Bee” as I like to call him (bless his heart, he’s got so many nicknames but this one is pulling out in front…basically because he doesn’t seem that little), is growing, eating and sleeping like a baby should.
He’s two months old today and, thanks in part to cloth diapers and genetics, can fit into some six month clothes.  He can also fit into some 3-6 month things but is trying to outgrow them.  Considering I just purchased a bunch of 3 to 6 month clothes at consignment…he’s going to be in them at least until the weather gets a tad bit cooler (any day now I pray).
He’s super sweet and sleeping anywhere from five to ten hours at night (I kid you not…those 10 hour stretches are awesome because it means I get about six hours of sleep in a row).  He does nap some during the day but nothing regular.  Considering, from research, that baby’s sleep just doesn’t regulate, physically, until four months, I’m grateful for what he does get.  He’s really good at putting himself to sleep or content to snuggle and cuddle and let me rock him (something big sis Ceili Rain didn’t enjoy after just a little time).
The smiles are so often now and he gurgles and coos along with them.  He loves to “talk” to us about any and everything…especially between sides while nursing…which causes quite a bit of a distraction in the middle of the night…but, we “discuss” how nighttime is for sleeping and he just coos and smiles, finishes eating and drifts off to sleep!
I will try to get more regular about posting.  I’ve got several things I want to share but just haven’t had time to get pictures and do posts.

Wrap it Up!

Bryant, although still a great night sleeper, has hit the alert stage and has trouble sleeping on his own during the day.  Not surprising as all of our kids did this and by about four months their sleep patterns start getting regular and they can sleep without mommy’s help.  Since I’ve now got two (really three) kids who are being schooled, I decided to give in and try my had at a wrap to wear Bryant in.  He’s too small and too young for the mei tai.  The sling works fine but when I lean over he leans too and it’s a bit cumbersome.
So here’s the results for my wrap:

You can see part of it.  Really it was super easy to do.  I took five and half yards of jersey knit fabric and cut it in half lengthwise.  However, it was a little too small to wrap all the way around, so I got another half yard of the black and white fabric and sewed it on (putting black on the other side so Mark could wear it and not feel girly).  After that it was watch video after video on youtube to make sure I put it on right. I would have got on Babywearer’s site but they were down and I was desperate.  I also found Wrap Your Baby which has video on how to wear a baby with a wrap too.  Way cool.
And if you think it takes a long time to get a wrap on…you are thinking correctly.  However, I found out that I could wrap it around me and just wear it and put him in it when necessary.
Mark loves it.  He’s still learning how to put it on, but it’s his go-to wearing mechanism.  Mostly because it doesn’t hurt his bag and it’s not bulky.  The first time he put it on, Liam remarked, “Daddy:  the Jedi Baby Warrior.”  I purposely did not buy the brown because wrapped up it looks like a Jedi costume!

Family Visits

While I should be working on lesson plans, I decided the wait was long enough and here are the pictures from our weekend a couple of weeks ago to honor and say goodbye to Mark’s grandmother.  As previously, there were 13 children and six adults in one house.  And the ages of the kids this time were 10, 7, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 3, 2, 2, 1, 2 mths, 1 mth.   I may have been the only one who felt this way but at one point I looked at all the kids gathered together and wondered where the rest were.  It just didn’t look like that many kids all together.

Bryant & K meet
Book time with Grandmere is always a must!
Miss G was my shadow for a couple of events and so enjoyed watching Bryant.
Papa got some good Bry lovin’ in.
I’m probably getting this wrong but I think this is TJ.  If not, it’s N.  I’m still not good at telling them apart.
Now, I really don’t know who it is 🙂
He, I know.  This is H.  And behind him, a very small Ace man.  We enjoyed watching videos from a looong time ago.
So if that was TJ above this would be N and if that was N above, this would be TJ.
Watching the videos.
J loved holding little Bry.
They almost look like Siamese twins they’re so close…and both have spit up cloths over them.
Brotherly love!
Cousin love
And lots more cousin love.  Zoe got a quick hold of K before they headed out.

The Bunch

Oh yeah…Tracy got our goofy side…and yes, this is the best we can do…we’ve got four boys!!!
And again…trying to decide, do I like the one below…

or this one:

Yes, I know Bryant was kind of “back there…” it was the best we could do with a little one who can’t sit up…maybe we’ll try it again when he’s sittable.  I’m taking donations to get him and Ceili Rain new shirts!

Show the love to Tracy please!  She was not feeling well when she came to do some of the pictures but I thought she did an amazing job.  So, if you appreciated having your eyes overloaded with Bryant pictures, let Tracy know by visiting her blog or leaving a comment below!

Can you tell it was the end of the photo session?  Bryant’s paci played an integral role in getting him through it!

You Oughta Be in Pictures!

Tracy is perfectly capable and was more than willing to get newborn pictures of Bryant.  So, instead of paying $50 for newborn pictures that have never been extremely amazing.  We asked her to do them.  She took some in the hospital and the next week came over and did some at the house.  She’s wonderful!  I got in on the editing side and played with our GIMP and did some color edits.  That was fun and now I’m hooked.  I may not be able to take the best pictures in the world, but I can use someone else’s and make them look even cooler!

Rock on!

This cap was waaay too big for him (it said newborn but his head was just small or something).  Anyway, we managed a good picture.

And I had to include this one…he was so mad that we kept messing with him and putting stuff on him.

Meeting family

Okay, so Tracy and Kevin are not blood family…but Tracy is as close to a little sister as I have.

*She also has the cutest “giant” baby in the world (he just turned one and is way bigger than Ceili Rain)…hence the reason he’s called Super Wy!  You can see more of Super Wy at their blog, Life as a Carr.

And she adores my kids (and Kevin tolerates them).  So I have to share when she loves on my kids!  Especially the new ones.  This time, she did something even more amazing…but you have to wait tomorrow to see that!
