Now to the Boys’ Bathroom

This is the solid wall that once housed the doorway into our bedroom. Now covered with sweet Alabama paraphernalia!
I’ll do our bedroom update soon.
All I need for the boys’ bathroom is more Alabama stuff for the shelves!

Now to the Boys’ Bathroom
I’ll do our bedroom update soon.
All I need for the boys’ bathroom is more Alabama stuff for the shelves!
Ughhh, sorry for not posting sooner. Our days have been filled with three preschoolers and nights are full of construction.
We’ll start with construction…we’re pretty much done. Still waiting on shingles, door knobs and a/c vent covers. However, WE are not done with construction. We got closets up and we’re using the bathroom. All that is left to do in our master bath is paint the trim and put up some blinds! Our closet needs the trim painted and the rest of the closet furniture installed (shelves/drawers). And yes, it is WONDERFUL!!! I love our closet and all the room we have in there. The bathroom is very luxurious…at least it is for me. I have gotten to take a bath and when you take a shower, you don’t bump into the wall or the curtain! The boys’ bathroom needs to be finished painting, trim needs painting and a new mirror and shelves for their closet installed…that’s all! Ha! That’s a lot. I’m pushing to finish up so we can clean the house next week.
Of course, our bedroom has to be painted and furniture removed and one piece added. The windows should be in in a few weeks and then the boys’ bathtub should be ready to rebath in July.
We went to see the baby doctor last Thursday. Josiah is doing fine. It was a quick visit and we go back the day we leave for vacation for a quick check. I’m gaining my usual large amounts fo weight (not sure how with all this reflux) but no concerns from my doc!
Zoe finished speech and ballet last week. We were thrilled with that. I have pictures from ballet and will post when I get caught up with everything else. She also finished up Awana on Sunday night and sang so pretty in choir!
Ace is pretty much potty trained! Keeping up with Zoe, he is really potty trained with #2 but #1 needs encouragement and reminders to go. Last Tuesday, we were so rushed and busy with ballet right after nap time, that I forgot to remind him to potty. I had intended to remind him when we got to ballet but it was very crazy. So, we were halfway through supper and I remembered that he hadn’t gone potty. He looked at us and said, “I just tee-teed a wittle bit…it’s just a wittle.” Hmmm?! Sure enough, he had gone just enough so he wasn’t uncomfortable but then finished after we prompted him to go.
The day after all the bruising/bumps/scratches incident, Zoe was spinning Ace in the swing. Ace was on his belly. Well, the swing is attached to the playfort and there is a big post in the middle. As I was saying, “Zoe be careful of the post…” she spun him around and his head whomped on the side of the post. It was a pretty hard hit and he didn’t even cry. I panicked thinking, “Well, this is our first er trip.” But he was fine and no concussion…thanks dad for teaching me how to look for those! He had a mean looking bruise that was conveniently covered by his floppy haircut.
Liam is…well, Liam. He’s into everything. We are anxiously awaiting doorknobs to keep him from diving head first into the toilets. He is still learning how NOT to climb on the table when we tell him to. He’s also picking up words…..one of which is “mama” Yippee! I now have a place in his vocabulary. He’s also saying “ba” for ball. And today we are working on “Papa” and “Ge” and the other grandparents (although those two names are the easiest). So far we have “Pa” for Papa and “Ge” and a big grin for Ge. Zoe is “oeeee” again with a big grin. Ace is “Aaaaa” with another big grin. Dada is always a treat to say and so is bye bye which is still “dye dye” and sometimes is actually “bye bye.”
I went today to get yet more work on my root canal. That lasted right at three hours…phew it was long, but thankfully not very painful…I almost fell asleep in the chair. One more visit should get the crown on and we’ll be done with that tooth.
Last up tonight is ballet graduation and I’m hoping they present the kids with their certificates before the end of the performance. That way, we can leave when the kids start getting zonked!
I’ll try and post pictures this week…no promises though.
Well, it looks like Mark will be installing the vinyl tile in the closet after all. Our friends are doing some MAJOR renovations as we are and clearing out the storage room and pulling up carpet is last on their list, sooo, we decided to go ahead and install the tile. We have it and it’s easy to do.
Also, Mr. Bill couldn’t come by today to work on the doors/trim, so he’ll be by tomorrow to do that.
That’s fine. It gave me time to go by and order our faucet fixtures and to get some stuff to make a baby present.
We picked out the vanity and the vanity top. I also picked out the toilet…I told the guy I just wanted something you sat on and could flush…nobody but me finds that funny…why should there be so many choices about what you use to dispose of waste???
Okay, so we’re hoping this will be our last week of construction updates…maybe a little bit more into next week…but we’ll see. We still have to paint our bedroom and finish painting the boys’ bathroom…but that’s not a biiiiggg rush.
We had a friend come over and paint the master closet while I was at MOPS today (thanks big time Brian!!) and he also waited on the tile guys to come and finish the grout…which they did. Everything is looking good (except for all the stuff scattered throughout my house). The stucco guys came out and started on that.
On tap for this week…Mr. Bill is supposed to come by tomorrow to finish fitting the doors and do all the trim. We are planning on going today to pick out the vanity and sink/countertop and give that information to Mr. Bill tomorrow. I’ll go by sometime to pick up the bathroom faucets, etc. The plumbers are supposed to be contacted today and we are praying they will come out to finish up the plumbing. Soooo, if all goes as planned (pray and keep your fingers crossed) we should have our master bath ready for use at the end of this week.
What’s left???
We’re winding down!
Well, the tile guys came and quickly did the bathroom floor and grouted the shower. It looks really good. We stepped out for a couple of hours to make a planning trip to Lowe’s and pick out the finish we wanted on the faucets. The tile guys didn’t grout the bathroom floor (the boys’ bathroom) because the mortar hadn’t set by the afternoon.
We waited on the drywallers until after 1 and then Mark called Mr. Bill who said they wouldn’t be coming today. That would have messed up our plans, but Mark said he’d do the sanding and Mr. Bill brought over the sander that night. Mark sanded while I went out to a MOPS thing at a friend’s house. He was white when I came home.
So, painting and hopefully floors tomorrow.
They came on Thursday to do the tile around 9:30. And they worked until they finished the shower which was around 4:30. It’s a lot of work because only one person could do it…the other cut tile. They all got a kick out of my kids. The drywall guy came too but was gone by the time I got back from dropping the kids off at Annette’s (Isn’t she a great friend).
On Friday (today), they will be grouting the shower and doing the bathroom floor in the boys’ room. Mr. Bill is coming by to get $$$ and to fit the boys’ bathroom for a door. Mark is off today (he was going to work to store up time for Josiah but he’s pooped). So, we are heading to Lowe’s this morning to pick out bathroom faucets and our closet stuff as well as take back the unused tile (yahoo!).
This weekend promises to be very loooooonnnnnnggggg! We should be able to paint which means two rooms have to be primed and painted and have the floors installed (which we’ll be doing). The other two rooms (the master bedroom and the boys’ bathroom) may have to wait until we have a little more time to get painted. We have a friend coming over to help paint and he is very efficient and good so that shouldn’t be too bad.
I know I said pictures…they’re coming, I promise.
After having nothing, except back pain, a drywall finisher (I guess that’s his job title) showed up at 7:30 this morning and got to work. He got done in time that I was able to scoot the kids out the door and get some much needed errands run (a MOPS thing on Friday and our last MOPS meeting on Monday are warranting a lot of my time and errand running).
The window guy came today and we put a deposit down and he measured the windows. We should get those in about 4 weeks (right when we’re on vacation). They also dropped off a dumpster/wagon to tow away debris.
My house is a wreck!!!! I’m to the point of wanting everything cleaned up but I’m trying to be patient and know that it’s just around the corner! We should be on for painting this weekend and the tile guy is coming tomorrow to do the shower area and the boys’ bathroom floor. Mark talked with Mr. Bill and they seem to think that we’ll have more than enough tile to do the bathroom, with plenty to return! YIPPEEEEE!
I’ll get pictures tonight and try to post them tomorrow.
My best friend is taking the kids in the morning so they won’t have to be trapped in the playroom all morning again. Hopefully, Friday, it’ll be warm enough I can throw them in the pool for the first time.
Going off now to rest my back!
Nothing! Not sure what happened.
However, that may have been a good thing. While walking from the bathroom to the kitchen to start supper while the kids were asleep, my back went out…literally. I was hurting so bad, I found myself lying on the kitchen floor. Luckily, Zoe wasn’t asleep and I was able to get her to find the phone so I could call Mark. I eventually (after much grunting and crying) made it to the couch and stayed there till Mark got home. After laying on my side for about three or four hours, I was able to sit up and then eventually get up without much pain. I had a little bit of pain throughout the night, but woke up feeling okay.
I’ve been extra cautious today (Wednesday). I think a lot of the pain is from sitting on the floor and getting up so much with Liam as well as picking him up. I’ve noticed it feels a little strained when I pick him up today. I also could tell it started hurting when I was leaning over the sink doing dishes (yippee! no more dishwashing 🙂
Today the drywall finishers came and taped and mudded. The a/c and heat guy came and hooked everything up and that’s all…that was enough for me. I had the kids down in the playroom watching a movie on Mark’s computer. Our attic access is in the playroom, so I spent a good 45 minutes trying to distract Liam from climbing up the attic stairs while the a/c guy was here. Phew! I’m tired.
Our schedule for the rest of the week includes drywall finishers for two more days and then one day of sanding and the tile guy coming Thursday or Friday to tile.
Mark is hoping to get the primer up on Thursday night and then finish painting on Saturday.
We have some great friends who happen to be opening up a garage after a year as a playroom and they have said we could have their carpet that was in there. So, Mark is going to arrange a time to pull up carpet and put it back down this weekend, I believe.
Pictures to come later in the week.
